No Longer a Hobby Baker

Logo-SugarSweet

So much has happened over the the past month!  I finally went through the  process and got approved by the Health Department to make cakes out of my home under the California Cottage Food Act that passed earlier this year – Yippee!

Ribbon Cutting

I also opened up an Etsy store, ShopSugarSweet where you can purchase cake decorations, cupcake toppers, and my food grade silicone molds:  I’m designing a brand new mold and hope to have it available for you all by December – Exciting!

Designed a new logo and opened a website (which is still a work in progress as I’m learning as I’m going).  With the new website, I transferred my blogger-based Blog over to WordPress a couple of days ago and I’m still going through each blog post making layout adjustments, categorizing and tagging each post – what a process!  Please resubscribe to this new blog address if you don’t mind.  Although everything should automatically be redirected over from blogger, I just don’t know for sure.  If you can’t find something or see a broken link, please let me know.

I’m also now on Instagram and Twitter….follow me!

Phew!  It’s a brand new world I have stepped into.  Please be patient as I adjust and make improvements.

Have a super day!

Hi Angela, I am looking to get licensed as a home baker as well, how can I get in touch with you to understand the procedures please.

Hi Prathima, you will need to check with your specific city, county and state. Each has their own requirements and process. Start with the Cottage Food Application that is available from your County’s Health Care Agency and see what they need first then figure out what you need to do next based on their requirements. You will most likely need to get a Business License with your City and in order to have a business license, you need to file a factitious business name with the county. You will also need to get a Sellers Certificate with the State and take a Food Handlers test to get the Certificate for the Cottage Food Application. It’s a process but if you take it one step at a time, it will be easier. Hope that helps.

Congratulations!! You’re such an inspiration to me and I LOVE you were able to pursue your passion with such success. Can’t wait to see the new mold, I purchased your sleigh and reindeer mold and the results are fantastic. Best of luck in your new endeavors.
